Director Sean-Michael Smith, crew, and I had a fun day in Coney Island, NY, with The Band Perry and a pair of Sony F5s for a popular State Farm Insurance PSA. The band had a tight schedule so our pre-light day focused on creating a an overall lighting scheme that would work for the entire afternoon with as few re-lights as possible.
The only trick for myself and my gaffer, CJ Baker, was that the roof of the bumper car arcade was electrified. We safely rigged all the lighting from the corners and edges of the room. We used larger sources (3 Joker 800s, KinoFlo Vistabeam 800s, and litepanels rigged to their bumper cars).
The two F5s worked really well and I had the pleasure of working with my buddy Michael Fuchs on the other camera. Please don't watch this post while driving :)
